Frieda Elinor Walthall Hiner

Frieda Elinor Walthall Hiner, 104, born November 2, 1919 to E. Maude Lilly and Frederick B. Walthall in Princeton, West Virginia died on July 30, 2024 at Friendship Health and Rehabilitation.

She was predeceased by her parents; husbands, Robert V. Altizer and Sidney E. Hiner; daughter, Patricia A. Johnston; brother, James R. “Dickie” Walthall; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Asa Sisson.

Frieda retired from Salem Veterans Administration Hospital in 1976. She was a long time, active member of the Daleville Church of the Brethren. Frieda loved her many cats and working in her flower garden and reading. Frieda was also a longtime volunteer with the Red Cross Blood Bank.              

Those left to cherish her memory are her grandsons, Kenneth Jones (Stacy) of New Jersey and Robert Jones (Hope) of North Carolina; stepchildren, Marjorie Smith, James Hiner (Elaine), Billy R. Hiner, Gloria Glass, and Judi Huffman; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great granddaughter; special niece, Carol Eaton; three nephews; sister-in-law, Mary E. Walthall; special neighbors, Jeanne George Brewer and Nancy and Dave Duffy who helped her stay in her home until the end.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00 until 11:00 am. A funeral service will follow in the chapel of Rader Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Pastor Tome and Naomi Powers officiating.
