Gail Anderson

November 21, 1956 - September 28, 2024

Gail Ann Lockwood Anderson, 67, of Roanoke passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was preceded in death by a son, Loren Gross, III; mother, Gail Watson Kahler; daddy, Gilbert Kahler; brother, Willis Lockwood; sister, Marie Friesland; sister-in-law, Debra Lockwood; and a step sister, Crystal Carnahan.

Gail was born November 21, 1956 in Arkansas City, Kansas the last of four children born to Byron Lockwood, Sr. and Gail Evelyn Watson. She spent her early years in Ponca City, Oklahoma and Central Illinois. She was a member of Heights Community Church. Gail worked for more than 15 years as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and released thousands of gray squirrels back into their habitat after being rehabilitated.

Surviving is her husband of 42 years, Edward L. Anderson; son, Shawne Gross; daughter-in-law, Dwan Gross of Pawnee, Illinois; brother, Byron Lockwood, Jr. (Jorita); step sisters, Tonda Cloud, and Tammy Nelson; step brother, Terry Lockwood (Carol); half sister, Theresa Haynes; special friend and soul sister Nikki Childress (Heather); the Anderson family members; nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as “Aunt Gee”; neighbors and friends too numerous to mention..

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice and the many friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness and compassion.

Gail loved the Lord, life, family, people, animals and flowers. Gail would want those of us left behind to “Be Brave and Kind”.

A celebration of Gail’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Electric Road Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home 3912 Electric Road with the Rev. Nelson Harris and the Rev. Dr. Tom Stocks officiating. The family will receive friends  Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Electric Road Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home. 540 632-4200
