Gary Louis Myers

Gary Louis Myers, 77, passed away at his home in Dry Fork, VA, with his wife by his side on September 11, 2024. Gary was born on June 3, 1947, in Pittsylvania County, VA to Louis & Reba Myers

He proudly served his country in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He was self-employed at G.L. Myers Construction Co. for many years till his retirement. He enjoyed grouse hunting with his dogs. He was always looking for the “one that got away” on his many fishing trips, whether on a lake or standing on a beach in Outer Banks, NC. Gary loved his Bride. They enjoyed going out to “their shop” to create things for family, whether building a birdhouse, a picture frame, or refinishing a piece of furniture. They enjoyed their special time together.His grandsons were his pride and joy. He loved teaching them how to do things, from playing ball, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, and treating others with respect. He spoiled his little dogs Daisy-Mae, and Rocky.

Gary is survived by his bride of 22 years Sabrina Dunaway-Myers, daughter Brandi Hawks (Chris), grandsons James Doss (Madi), Mark Doss (Elizabeth), and a great-grandson Greyson James Doss, his sister Emily Jacobs (G.W.), nieces Shelia Callahan (Jerry) and Sandra Williams (Jimmy), brother-in-law Jeff Dunaway (Becky), nephew Michael Dunaway and great nephew Nathan Dunaway.

He is predeceased by his parents Louis and Reba Myers and sister Faye Phelps.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel followed by a Celebration of Life Service with full military honors, at 12:00 PM with Ronnie Gibson officiating.
