Geneva Cumbee Robinett

February 26, 1943 - June 17, 2025

Geneva Cumbee Robinett, of Pembroke, Virginia, a cherished matriarch and a steadfast pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, at Pulaski Health and Rehab. Born on February 26, 1943, in the picturesque state of Virginia, Geneva’s life was a testament to the strength and warmth of her spirit.

Geneva’s journey began as one of nine siblings in the Cumbee family, where she was lovingly raised by her parents, Orbie and Pauline Atkins Cumbee. She navigated the complexities of life with grace and resilience, traits that would come to define her. Though she was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Cecil Robinett, her daughter Pamela Croy, and her siblings Joann Harless, Barbara Langford, Patty Sessor, Donnie Cumbee, Betty Dowdy, Judy Huffman, and Charlotte Hendrickson, Geneva’s legacy is carried forward by those she loved and influenced.

Her devotion to her family was unwavering, as she is survived by her daughter Karen Brooks; her adored grandchildren Sean Croy, Zachary Croy, and Courtney Brooks; and her treasured great-grandchildren J’von, Kimora, Kehlani, and Nyhlani. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother Ronnie Cumbee and his wife Claudine, along with several nieces and nephews who were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Geneva’s professional life was marked by her role as an Executive Housekeeper at the Blacksburg Marriott Inn. A devout Christian, Geneva was a member of Riverview Baptist Church since 1981. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life’s trials and triumphs. She found great joy and purpose in her involvement with Bible Study, hosting sessions at her home for 18 years. Her commitment to her faith community extended to participating in church trips with the SALT group, where she shared in fellowship and spiritual growth. Her love for Bible Study was matched by her enjoyment of shopping, where she took pleasure in finding the perfect gifts for her loved ones, creating memories through her thoughtful selections.
