Geneva Ellen Simpkins Hess

Geneva Ellen Simpkins Hess, 80, of Martinsville, Virginia, entered her eternal rest Tuesday, August 4, 2026. She was born June 24, 1946, in Sandlick, West Virginia, to the late Arnold Henry Simpkins and Verdie Ada Ellis Simpkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Edward Hess; son, Mark Allan Hess; sisters, Belle Sara Simpkins White, Patricia Simpkins; brothers, Kenneth “Kenny” Simpkins, Dempsey Simpkins, Buddy Simpkins, Larry Simpkins, Troy Simpkins; and one granddaughter.

Geneva was a woman of Christian faith and a member of Mercy Crossing Church. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, including watching television, taking trips to the beach, and, above all, spending cherished time with her family.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughters, Sandra Kaye Hess Prillaman (Barry), Margaret Ann Hess; brothers, Albert Henry Simpkins; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Wright Funeral Service Martinsville Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Hess officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park, 103 Clearview Drive, Martinsville, Virginia. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
