Geneva J. Dillon

Geneva Dove Joyce Dillon, 93 of Bassett, VA died on September 9, 2023 at The Landmark Center. She was born on February 26, 1930 to the late Louie W. Joyce and the late Nannie Sue Tuggle Joyce. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Albert “Doc” Dillon; son, Larry Wayne Dillon; daughter Susan Lynn Dillon; sisters, Edith Wray, Racine Craig, Ilda Mitchell and Annie “Bea” Adams; brothers, Curtis Joyce, Dolphus Joyce, and Ronnie Joyce. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bassett.

Geneva is survived by her son, Roger Dillon (Donna); her daughter, Janet Hodges (Daryell), and daughter-in-law, Deborah Dillon; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Peggy Merriman (Moyer), Nellie Terry (Carl); brothers, Tommy Joyce (Emma Dean) and Bobby Joyce (Jean) and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Carrington Dillon, Scott Dillon, Kevin Stultz, Adam Horsley, Josh Hodges and Smith Turner. Honorary Pallbearer Jeremy Hodges.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Bassett with a funeral service immediately following with Pastor Doug Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in the Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Old Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 2474 Stones Dairy Road, Bassett, VA 24055.
