Georgette Schaefer Bishop
Georgette Schaefer Bishop of Roanoke, Martinsville, and formally Long Island, New York, passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2024, at the age of 99. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville for 65 years and also a member of the Pythian Sisters.
She leaves behind her 3 children, Linda M. Bishop (April) of Roanoke, VA, Richard W. Bishop (Ann) of Midlothian, VA, and Karen Bishop Beck of Anderson, SC, grandson, Justin T. Bishop (Luda) of Henrico VA, and great grandsons, Emory T. Bishop and Cormac Turner of North Chesterfield, VA.
Georgette was preceded in death by her parents, Emil & Georgetta Schaefer, her twin brother, Bob and younger brother, Bill, all from Port Washington, New York. Sadly, preceding Georgette most recently, was her cherished son-in-law, Leslie M. Beck, beloved husband of daughter Karen. And of course, the love of her life for 75 years, Carl Attison Bishop who passed on December 8th, 2021.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services, Kings Mountain Rd., Martinsville, VA. A celebration of Georgette’s long, illustrious life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Norris Funeral Services, with Chaplain Clark Richardson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
