Geraldine P. Washington

Geraldine P. Washington, 60, departed this life on Thursday, October 29, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1966, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late Edward Lee Washington and Edna E. Washington.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kanyah Cosby; her paternal and maternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Geraldine graduated from Tunstall High School and attended Danville Community College. Throughout her life, she worked various jobs, with sewing being her specialty. Her skill with a needle and thread reflected her creativity and attention to detail. A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan, Geraldine proudly supported her favorite team. In 2016, she moved to Wilmington, North Carolina.

In addition to her mother, Edna E. Washington, she leaves to cherish her memory, her four children, Katrina Frankel (Leo), of Vero Beach, Florida, Shakeva Washington, of Charleston, South Carolina, Taliah Washington, of Reidsville, North Carolina, and Ty’Lee Washington, of Vero Beach, Florida; her brother, Everette Washington, of Cascade, Virginia; and her sister, Valerie Washington, of Danville, Virginia.

She also leaves ten grandchildren, Jasyia Cosby, Donoven Washington, Kendric Morris, William Morris, Jariek Frankel, Venus Morris, Kadynce Frankel, Maximus Washington, Adonis Washington, and Josefina Waters; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Evangelical Holiness Church, with Pastor Marvin Slade, officiating. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, at Wright Funeral Service – Martinsville Chapel.,
