Geraldine Witcher Price

Geraldine Helon Witcher Price, 92, of Salem, peacefully passed into glory on Sunday, August 2, 2026. She was born on September 27, 1933, in Franklin County, Virginia, to the late Rucker Moorman Witcher and Etta Mae Martin Witcher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Conrad Renner Price, Jr.; her sister, Mary Flora Witcher Simmons; her brothers, Nathaniel Jackson Witcher and Rucker M. Witcher, Jr.; and her nephew, Michael Ray Simmons.

Geraldine graduated in 1954 from the Memorial and Crippled Children's Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse with the Roanoke City Health Department. In 1994, she was honored as the Virginia Department of Health Public Health Nurse of the Year.

She was an avid reader who enjoyed painting ceramics, planting flowers, traveling with her husband, visiting with family, friends, and neighbors, and helping her many nieces and nephews. Geraldine will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and generosity toward her family and friends.

She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Salem, Virginia.

Left to cherish her memory are her stepsons, Terry Price and Ricky Price; her sisters-in-law, Leevene Witcher and Shirley Witcher; her nieces and nephews, Linda Donohoe, Marie Simmons, Jean Bayer, Henry Simmons (Beth), David Simmons (Beth), Bonnie Hodges, Carl Simmons, Vera Johnson (Daryl), Kera Provost (Colin), and Derek Witcher (Robert Robertson); as well as numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews. She is also survived by her cherished lifelong friend from nursing school, Shirley Witt.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of Richfield Living at The Oaks and to Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Lotz Funeral Home, East Main Street, Salem, Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Craig Newman of First United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Lotz Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
