Gerri Kincer Rorer

September 18, 1945 - May 17, 2025

The gates of Heaven opened wide on May 17, 2025, and welcomed Gerri Kincer Rorer, 79, of Salem, Virginia, after a brief illness. Born in Roanoke, Va., to the late Frank and Geneva Kincer, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Rorer, as well as her siblings, Sherlene Nimer, Mickey Kincer and Dana Kincer.

Gerri grew up in Roanoke and graduated from William Fleming High School. After a long career as the Tax Compliance Administrator for Roanoke City, she retired in 2009. A member of Living Well Church, she loved her church family and served in multiple ways, including the Prayer Ministry and organizing their Easter Prayer Walk. Gerri had a large circle of friends and enjoyed their dinner dates and trips to Leesburg and Florida. She enjoyed going to the Fitness Center and Chick-fil-A most days of the week. She was a competitive Rummicube player and liked watching TV game shows.

Above all, she cherished her five grandchildren who called her, “Magran”, a name she borrowed with permission from Shaine’s grandmother, whom she adored. Magran enjoyed pizza nights, fun outings, vacations, and big money games at holiday gatherings with her grandkids.

Gerri asked for very little but gave much. She will be remembered for her acts of service and warm smiles. She lovingly cared for shut-ins, widows and those suffering with illness. She was selfless and generous with her time and resources. She was very private and punctual but had endless time to listen to and love others. Gerri took her assignment seriously as a prayer warrior and when she talked to God, her prayers touched Heaven.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Danielle Lineberry and Vanessa Miles and husband, Shaine; grandchildren, Alex, Cameron, Samantha and Fallon Lineberry, and Brock Miles; brother, Charles Kincer and sisters-in-law, Lisa Kincer and Teresa Kincer.

Per Gerri’s wishes, there will be no services; instead, she requests that you celebrate her life by doing something you love that brings you joy.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice for the compassionate care shown to both Gerri and their family during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Well Church, 4435 W. Main Street, Salem, Va. 24153, or to Good Samaritan Hospice.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
