Gertrude Earles Ward

Mrs. Gertrude (Trudy) Earles Ward, age 94 of Martinsville, VA passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Mrs. Ward was born on February 13, 1931 in Henry County, VA to Sam Earles and Alice Hopkins Earles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond “Doc” Ward, daughter, Carol Jean Ward and son, Stanley Ray Ward, sisters, Vera Vaughn, Edna Padgett and Ann Couch.

Mrs. Ward is survived by a daughter, Bonnie Freeman, three sisters, Shirley Taylor, Jerlene Harrison and Lorene Clark, two grandsons, Chris Atkins (Susan) and Andy Atkins (Casey), four great grandchildren, Kenneth Atkins, Harlee Atkins, Aaron Atkins and Camden Meeks , daughter-in-law, Stuart Pannill Ward and special friend, Linda Foley.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, VA with a Graveside Service to follow at 12:30 PM at the Ward Family Cemetery, located at 561 Marigold Road, Martinsville, VA with Rev. Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating.

The family suggest memorials may be made to the Ward Family Cemetery Fund.
