Glen B. Via

Glen Brown Via, 93, of Henry, Virginia passed away on April 27, 2023. He was born September 15, 1929, to the late Frank Brown Via and Ida Prillaman Via of Henry, Virginia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Patterson and his brother, Willard Via.

Glen served in the United States Air Force and was in the Korean War. He had 35 years of service with DuPont in Martinsville, with his last years on the security force. Glen was a longtime member of Fort Trial Baptist Church, where he enjoyed listening to the message of the Lord, as well as the fellowship he found there. He enjoyed many years of deer hunting in Franklin County and watching NASCAR races every Sunday afternoon. He was instrumental in organizing the Henry Fire Department and remained active with fund raising events until his health declined.

Glen is survived by his wife of 68 years, Darrah Via; his daughter, Pamela Foley (Ronald) of Bassett; his son, Timothy Via (Jacqueline) of Geneva, Ohio; his grandson, Dr. Garrhett Via of Dayton, Ohio; and his sister, Lois Jarrett (Marshall) of Bassett.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Bassett Funeral Service where a funeral will be conducted at 12 noon with Reverend Tony Beach presiding. Burial, with military rites by the United States Air Force Honor Guard, will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville.
