Glenn Shrader

Glenn Shrader Glenn Malcolm Shrader 73, of Narrows, VA., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at his home.  Glenn was born on February 10, 1952, in Roanoke, Va and was a son of the late Joseph Fred Shrader and Mary Lois Jones Shrader.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Glenn Shrader and his wife, Julie Bonds Shrader, a granddaughter, Baylee Crawford, mother and father-in-law, Dolan and Eloise Rader, 3 brothers-in-law, Gary W. Wright, Stephen Rader and Keith Rader.

Glenn was a lifelong resident of Narrows, graduating from Narrows High School Greenwaves, “Class of 1970”.  He was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Narrows, holding many positions, including, Elder, Board Chair, Property Chair, Men’s Fellowship and all-around church greeter.  Glenn started his Law Enforcement career at the town of Narrows Police Dept. and then became a Giles County Sheriff’s Deputy for 23 years retiring in 2006.  He was a member of the Wolf Creek Ruritan Club, an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sharon Fay Rader Shrader of Narrows, daughter, Jennifer S. Crawford (Donnie) of Narrows, 5 grandchildren, Sampson Shrader, Jaeger Shrader, Nakia Shrader, Ayasha Shrader, Branden Crawford, 4 great grandchildren, Jazlynn Shrader, Malcolm Shrader, Lyric Shrader, Kingston Shrader and sister, Freda S. Wright of Narrows, his step-grandmother, Maxine Shrader of Lugoff, SC, 2 brothers-in-law, Joel Rader (Ann) of Newport, Brian Rader (Melanie) of Blacksburg, sister-in-law, Brenda Snidow (Winfred) of Pembroke, several nieces and nephews, his beloved “fur-baby”, Molly and many that were like his own, that he called family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Narrows at 4pm with Pastor Richie Miller officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church 2 hours before the service from 2- 4pm.
