Gloria "Emogene" Talley Lovelace Kelly

Gloria “Emogene” Talley Lovelace Kelly passed away at her residence on October 11, 2023. She was born on April 18, 1945, in Danville, Virginia to the late Thelma Ludwick Talley and the late Aaron Carroll Talley. She was also predeceased by her husband, Marshall Thomas Kelly Jr.

Emogene worked for many years as a self-employed truck driver before her retirement. She also was a loving babysitter for many years to all the children she kept. She was of the Baptist faith as well.

Emogene, is survived by a daughter; Tamara Lovelace Gilley (Mark) of Danville, VA; two sons; David Wayne Lovelace Jr. (Ashley) and Chad Carter Lovelace both of Danville, VA; Two brothers; David “Duke” Talley (Donna) of Danville, VA and Carroll Talley of Florida; Eight grandchildren; Cassidy Campbell, Samantha Gilley, Chase Lovelace, Chad “Cody” Lovelace, Zachary Lovelace, Andrew Lovelace, Noah Wyatt and Logan Lovelace; along with two special friends and neighbors; Lori Rivero and Valerie “Val”.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 4:00pm at Woodmen of the World Center, 169 Mt. Hermon School Road, Danville, VA 24540.

Mrs. Emogene was quoted as saying “We Can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it”.
