Harlan Webb
HARLAN WEBB, JR., 82, of Rocky Gap, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at his home. He was born May 22, 1941 in Lincoln, IL, the son of the late Harlan William, Sr. & Mary Elizabeth Webb.
Mr. Webb enlisted in the Army at 17 and served 22 years, with tours of duty in Germany, Korea, Japan, and numerous stateside stations. He had 3 combat tours in Vietnam, serving with the 1s Inf. Div, 4th Inf. Div, 25th Inf. Div, and as senior advisor to a Vietnamese Recon Unit. He was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart, and 2 Bronze Stars. After retiring from the Army as a 1st Sgt, E-8, he worked in civil service as a security specialist and a store administrator for 17 years. He was a member of the Rocky Gap Methodist Church, and the Rocky Gap Ruritan Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan William Webb, Sr. & Mary Elizabeth Webb, his first wife, Evelyne Stowers Webb, his second wife, Betty Hagy Webb, both of whom he loved very dearly, Aunt Lucille Webb, and Uncles Robert and Leo Webb, and his step-son, Dennis B. Frye.
Left to cherish his memory are his step-son, Jeffrey E. Frye & his wife, Iris Frye, and children, Diane Frye, Sean Frye and Matthew Frye; his step-daughter, Melanie Saylor & her husband, Tim Saylor, and children, Mikayla Saylor and Kristen Mattas; his step-daughter-in-law, Betty Frye, and children, Adam Frye and Christopher Frye; several great-grandchildren, his brother, Robert & Kathleen Webb; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Rocky Gap Methodist Church with Pastor Rodney Lawson and Pastor Jeff Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in the Bishop Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 A.M. until service time, 11:00 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe made to the Rocky Gap Methodist Church Building Fund.
