Harold Glen Carter

Harold Glen Carter, age 85, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Sovah Health Martinsville. Born on July 10, 1939, in Franklin County, Virginia, he was the son of the late Lonzie Carter and Viola Zigler Carter. In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by nine siblings.

Glen retired from Tultex after many dedicated years of service as Head Mechanic. He had a deep love for bluegrass music and was an enthusiastic flatfoot dancer. A highlight of his passion was performing and calling square dances on stage at the World Institute of Music in Manhattan, New York.

Glen is survived by his loving wife, Glenda Rhodes Carter; sisters Edith Hodges, Agnes Franklin, and Linda Younger (Donnie); brother Wayne Carter (Judy); along with several other cherished family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Spencer Family Cemetery on Snow Hill Church Road in Lawsonville, North Carolina.
