Harry B. Jarrett

Harry B. Jarrett, age 93, of Moneta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Born on January 16, 1933, in Martinsville, Harry was the beloved son of the late Morris and Mary Susan Adams Jarrett. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jane Barbour, his son Rick, his step-daughter Cheryl (Rick Howell), and his brothers Curtis, Marshall, and his sister Clayton. Harry's life was defined by unwavering devotion to his family, his remarkable achievements, and a spirited zest for life. He is survived by his cherished wife, Norma Lee Stewart Jarrett, whose companionship brought him great joy, especially in their shared passion for boating during their golden years together. He is lovingly remembered by his son, Dave (Linda), his daughter Leigh Jarrett Reynolds (Barton), his granddaughter Taylor Jarrett-Bryan (Cole), grandson David "Alex" Alexander, Brady (Katlyn) Samuel, Charlie (Samantha) and Austin, as well as his great-grandchildren Ellie, Jackson, Sammy, and Charlotte. Harry’s legacy also endures through numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and the many friends whose lives he touched with kindness and integrity. Proudly serving his country, Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952 and served until 1955. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Navy Occupation Service Medal before his honorable discharge in December 1955. His commitment to service exemplified the steadfastness and sense of duty that would carry through every chapter of his life. Education and perseverance were hallmarks of Harry’s journey. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he pursued further studies at Rutgers University in New Jersey, earning an MBA. His career in banking was marked by dedication, innovation, and leadership, culminating in his retirement as Vice President of Marketing for Wells Fargo. Among his many accomplishments, Harry notably introduced Southwest Virginia residents to the very first ATM in the 1970s—an enduring testament to his forward-thinking spirit and commitment to progress. In addition to his professional and personal achievements, Harry was a passionate golfer, distinguishing himself with the extraordinary feat of five holes in one. Whether on the green, spending time on the water with Norma, or sharing stories with loved ones, Harry approached life with generosity, humility, and infectious enthusiasm. The Jarrett family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Carilion Hospice, especially Helen, Jill and Juilann and the staff of Runk and Pratt at Smith Mountain Lake for their compassionate care and kindness during Harry’s residence there. Per Harry's request, there will be no funeral service. A family gathering will take place at a later time. Jarrett’s life was one of service, achievement, and deep devotion to those he loved. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
