Harvey "John" D. Hurley
HARVEY D. (“JOHN”) HURLEY, 85, of Princeton, WV, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024 at the Bowers Hospice House. He was born March 28, 1938, in Hemp Hill, WV, the son of the late Cleveland Monroe and Betty Flanagan Hurley.
John was one of 15 kids. He served in the United States Army. After returning from the United States Army, he started working for Bodell & Company and Ingleside Repair.
One of John’s greatest hobbies was raising and working with his Game Fowl. He also enjoyed hunting, especially when it was with “The WildBunch.”
He was a man of integrity and a man who stood on his word. He was a man who loved his family very much. On August 9th 2023 he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized.
Harvey is preceded in death by all of his siblings, as he was the last living one.
Those left to cherish his memory is his nephew and caregiver Mike Hurley and wife Heather, of Princeton WV; David and Mackenzie Hurley, who he considered as his grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews, Josh Hurley, Ronnie Hurley, Kathy Wimmer, Eddie McPeak and David McPeak; and a very special friend, Randy French, of McDowell, WV.
Special Thanks to Rhonda Sue Hurley for her love and support over the year. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Beckley VA, Centerwell Home Health, CAMC and Bowers Hospice House for all they did to support and care for John.
A graveside service is planned for Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 12:00 P.M. at Trail Cemetery, Princeton, WV, with Pastor Duane Bailey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial donations to be made in John’s honor to Beckley VA Volunteer Services, 200 Veterans Ave., Beckley, WV, 25801.
