Hazel Thompson Gravely

Hazel May Thompson Gravely was born on April 23, 1934 and was called to Heaven on April 26, 2023 at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Gravely and son Kyle Gravely.Hazel leaves behind a devoted daughter, Donna Gravely; grandsons, Corey Gravely, Cody Gravely and wife, Rae and great-grandsons, Collin Gravely and Issac Gravely; nephews, Jimmy Thompson and George Thompson, all of Roanoke; special friends Jill and Coy Webb, of Hillsville; cousins, Sue Williams of Kenbridge, and Lois Williams of Crewe, plus many other family members, friends, and neighbors.Hazel was a fun loving, doting and affectionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her home and did her utmost to make it a welcoming and inviting place for all who visited. She was also an avid crafter. Hazel excelled at flower arranging, quilting, crocheting, cross stitching, and artistic coloring, and she often gave away her beautiful handiwork.The family wishes to thank Pastor Mark Washington and Hollins Road Baptist Church for their prayers, visits, calls, and kind support over these past difficult years. Hazel also wanted to thank the Multiple Sclerosis Alliance of Virginia (MSAV) for their generous and warm hearted acceptance of both herself and Kyle into the organization and for the caring help they continue to give to Donna. Hazel loved everyone at the MSAV and considered them as her family. She wanted to give a special mention to the organization’s president and founder, Suzanne O’Connell.A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at Mountain View Cemetery in Vinton.
