Henry Fleshman

May 11, 1937 - October 21, 2024

Henry Lee Fleshman was born on May 11, 1937, to the late Emmitt Fleshman and late Mary Thornton Fleshman.

He was baptized at an early age and faithfully attended the Promise Land Baptist Church. Henry Lee loved his church and over the years served as a deacon, a trustee, sang on the Men’s Chorus, and helped out anywhere he could.

Although Henry Lee did not have a formal education, he was very smart and handy. He held various jobs throughout his younger years, from Adams Motor Company to Courtland Garment Factory. His last employment being BWXT, Inc., working there for over twenty years. Upon retirement, you would find him on his tractor, tending to his garden, fixing one of his prized antique cars, or sitting in the shop talking with the men of the Promise Land community.

His memory will be cherished by his devoted wife of 62 years, Lillie Jane, faithful son, Rev. Henry Lee Fleshman Jr., caring daughter in love Janice, and the one and only grandson, Min. Maliki Fleshman. He also leaves one loving sister Frances Randolph, two brother in laws, Dallas Randolph and William Forbes, along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his two brothers: Joe Fleshman, Willis West Fleshman and four sisters: Ora Bell Scott, Doris Stevens, Willie Mae Randolph, and Margie Manns. A special thank you to Shantae Biglow for her loving and dedicated service, and all of the caregivers throughout the years.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Deacon Fleshman on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Promise Land Baptist Church, 5562 Promise Land Rd., Appomattox, VA  24522
