Herbert Bennett Templeton

March 15, 1934 - January 5, 2024

Herbert Bennett Templeton, Buddy as everyone knew him, entered the gates of Heaven on January 5, 2024. He had been in declining health for the last several months.

Buddy was born on March 15, 1934. He was in the Army for a brief amount of time. He really wanted to be in ministry, so to help pay his way through seminary school in Missouri, he got a job at a local chicken farm catching chickens.

Buddy did not go on to become a Pastor, but he was one of the best Sunday School teachers that the churches he attended ever knew. His longest working career was as a construction worker at Warrco Inc.

As a Christian man, he was always there to help in any capacity. He especially enjoyed doing for and giving to missions and charities. Paw-Paw, as he was called always, had time for the grandkids and great grandkids. He even babysat from time to time. In his spare time he enjoyed tending to his garden, splitting wood for his heater, and going fishing, on the pier at the coast was his favorite place to be.

Buddy is survived by his son, Robert Hendrix (Tina), three grandchildren, Carmen Rice (Michael), Robbie Hendrix-Wirt (Spencer), Adam Hendrix (Taylor), and four great grandchildren; Kamden, Paige, Magnolia, and Memphis. He is predeceased by his parents, Linwood and Lillian Templeton, his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Joyce Leticha Templeton and his sister, Kathryn Adkins.

As a giver, Buddy wanted to be able to give back even after going to be with his Lord and Savior. He had in place a long time ago to donate his body to the Virginia Anatomical Program in hopes that they may be able to help someone else in the future with the ailments and such that he had.

A memorial service will be held on February 17, 2024 at 3:00pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2041 Kentuck Road, Danville, VA 24540.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that you donate to your favorite mission or charity.
