Herbert Marc Hughes

Marc Hughes March 12, 1969 – January 23, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, brother and good friend, Marc on January 23 in Martinsville, Va. Marc was 55 years old and is survived by his two adult children, Ashlyn and Tyler Hughes, their mother, Kristi Hughes, his sister and her husband MaryBeth and Mark Roach and their adult children, Casey, Brandon and Libba Roach.

Born on March 12, 1969, in Martinsville, Marc lived out his youth in the parks and recreation centers his father Herb Hughes worked to build for the community. He was an avid tennis player at Martinsville High School and after graduation, attended Elon University receiving a double major in both Business and Economics. Soon after, he and Kristi married, and he began a successful 25-year sales career in the furniture industry that took them to New York, Florida, and Northern VA where they raised their children Ashlyn and Tyler. There, Marc was committed to giving back to the community where he volunteered at the Ashburn Fire and Rescue Department and mentored youth struggling with addiction at Inova Health. Marc recently returned tohis childhood home in Martinsville to care for his beloved Mother Hazel.

Marc was a good person who touched the lives of many and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

A closed memorial service with the family will be held on February 8, 2025.
