Herbert Nelson Kilbourn

Herbert N. Kilbourn, 96, of Roanoke passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2026. He served in the Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was a Real Estate Appraiser having opened his own firm in 1978 and finally retiring at the age of 94.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Faye, in 2015; his parents; his brother; his sister; his parents in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; and 1 sister-in-law.

He is survived by his daughter, Laura Whorley, and husband Jeff; brother-in-law Wayne Nicely; sister-in-law Faye Nicely; several nieces and nephews; his Community Advent Christian Church family; his Wednesday morning MMCT group; and his Georgetown Park neighborhood family.

Services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Community Advent Christian Church with Reverend T.G. Ayers officiating, 4512 Old Mountain Road, NE, Roanoke, VA 24019, with the family receiving friends 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Clifton Forge, VA with military honors.
