Humphrey Jesse Yeaman

November 23, 1938 - January 4, 2024

Humphrey Jesse Yeaman Jr., 85 of Danville, VA passed away on January 4, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsylvania County on November 23, 1938 to the late Humphrey Jesse Yeaman, Sr. and Grace Tate Yeaman. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Beggarly Yeaman.

Jesse owned and operated Yeaman Motor Company until his retirement at the age of 80. He was one of the founders of the Blairs Fire Department, and served as the department’s first Fire Chief, and was a board member for many years. He was also a founding member and former officer of the Blairs Ruritan Club, and was a member of Carter Masonic Lodge #323, A.F. & A.M. in Blairs, VA, which he was a Past Master. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and a deacon. Jesse loved spending time with his family and friends and enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Jesse is survived by two daughters, Linda Jermyn (Doug) of Jamestown, NC and Debra Lewis (Tim) of Danville, VA; his brothers Carroll Yeaman (Brenda) and Kenneth Yeaman (Judy) of Danville, VA; and his grandchildren, Rachel Lewis, Nicholas Jermyn (Courtney), and Maggie Jermyn (Josh).

A graveside service with Masonic Rites by Carter Lodge #323, will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 11:00am at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA with Reverend Ryan Riley officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 6-7:30pm at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 4385 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, VA 24540. The family will also receive friends at other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to Blairs Fire and Rescue, 7100 US Highway 29, Blairs, VA 24527.
