Jackie “Jack” Dean Cameron, 85, of Martinsville, Va. passed from this life to eternal life on Friday, August 30, 2024. Beloved by all of his family, he was the husband of the late Betty Ann Cameron; the father of David Cameron (Mary Helen) of Martinsville, Va, and Jackie Cameron Mason (Eric) of Algonquin, Ill.; and the grandfather of Anna Mason, also of Algonquin. Jack was born on November 19, 1938, in Fairfield, Ill., to Andrew Jackson Cameron and Opal Andrews Cameron. Jack met Betty at Airtex Products in Fairfield, Ill., where they both worked until retiring. They married on June 24, 1967 in Fairfield and were active members of First Baptist Church of Fairfield, where Jack served as an usher and worked in the food pantry.He and Betty moved to Collinsville, Va., in 2021 and then joined Chatham Heights Baptist Church of Martinsville, where Jack also served as an usher.Jack enjoyed woodworking, photography and watching sports. He was a very dedicated employee for 42 years at Airtex Products, where he also served as a Union Steward for UAW 543 in Fairfield.In addition to his children and granddaughter, Jack is survived by his brother, Kenny Cameron and niece, Amy Ellis. He is survived by many other nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A memorial service for Jack will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Chatham Heights Baptist Church and will be officiated by the Reverend Dr. Michael Hatfield. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.The family will also receive friends at the home located at 171 Randolph Street, Collinsville, Va.
