Jack Leroy Hodges

Mr. Jack Leroy "Papa" Hodges, Sr., age 84, of Mount Airy passed away on Wednesday morning March 8, 2023, at Northern Regional Hospital. He was born February 19, 1939, in Surry County to the late Jahue Tobe Hodges and Bertha Virginia Nichols Hodges. Papa retired from Roadway Trucking after 30 years of service and was a member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are two daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Richard Frost, and Angie and Ricky Collins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jack Hodges, Jr. and Toby and Lisa Hodges; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; a special great-granddaughter, Alli Mosley Brown; a great great-grandson on the way, Silas Brown; sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Ronald Wood; and a brother-in-law, Johnny and Geraldine Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hodges was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Judith Faye Johnson Hodges; a great-grandson, Anakin Goins; sister, Zula “Sis” Myrtle Hodges Nelson Goins; brothers, William Mack Hodges, Sr., and James Robert Hodges; and an infant brother. Funeral services for Papa will be held at Blue Ridge Baptist Church on Sunday March 12, 2023, at 2:00PM with Rev. Tommy Shelton and Pastor Chris Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard, Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mt. Airy Post 2019. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Hodges family.
