Jack Patton Orr

Jack Patton Orr, age 88 years of Troutville, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. Jack was born September 11th, 1935 in Pennington Gap, VA, and lived in Botetourt for the past 25 years. He was the son of the late William Edison and Gladys Rose Anderson Orr.

Jack studied engineering at Virginia Tech and served in the United States Army, Fort Sill OK. He was employed with the Virginia Department of Transportation after his honorable discharge. He retired after 52 years as District Right of Way Manager.

All who knew Jack recognized him by his bald head and infectious smile. Jack enjoyed golf, Virginia Tech football, and spending time with his family. Jack was a devoted and loving father, husband, grandfather, and friend.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his stepson, Tracy Callis Jr., and grandson Shawn Callis. He is survived by his wife Jane Hollandsworth Orr, daughters Kathryn Leigh Orr and Holly (Inge) Orr Johnson, grandsons Logan Callis and Ryan Johnson, granddaughter Madison Johnson and great-granddaughter Riley Callis.

A remembrance service will be held Saturday, January 13th at 2 pm at St. Marks United Methodist Church 19 Cedar Ridge Dr. Daleville with Reverend Rob Lough officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association DC/MD/VA Chapter, 30 West Gude Drive Rockville, MD 20850-in loving memory of Jack’s mother Gladys Rose Orr.
