Mr. Jack “Jackie” Allen Cox Jr, age 69, of Westfield, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem. He was born on May 18, 1956 in Surry County to the late Jack Allen Cox Sr, and the late Anna J. Cannon. He graduated from Mount Airy High School where he proudly played football and wrestled. Jackie spent his life working hard as a loader and heavy equipment operator, and was the owner of Jack A. Cox Construction, following in his father and grandfather’s footsteps. He also owned Jacks Grocery in Sheltontown for many years. Above all Jackie loved his family, his unwavering commitment to his wife Sheila to whom he had been married for 46 years. He leaves behind his wife, Sheila Cooke Cox; his daughter, Emily Willard and his favorite son-in-law, Chad; his son, David Cox and partner, Robert “Stuckey” Mace; grandchildren, Ila, Tabin, Lucas (Hannah) , Carson. He is also survived by his second mother, Shelby Cox; sisters, Betty Ann Collins (Martin), Joan Rose (David), Dawn Lawson (Lee) as well as several nieces , nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents Mr. Cox was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Cannon. A service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Rev. Rickey Rogers. Burial will follow in Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 PM ~ 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
