Jacob "Tater" Preston Clark

Jacob Preston “Tater” Clark, 26, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1999, in Eden, North Carolina, to David Preston “Bud” Clark and Cynthia Marie Bolden.

Jacob was affectionately known by many as “Tater” and to his fiancé, Lydia, he was “Sweet Tater.” He worked for many years as a painter, where he was the owner and operator.

Tater enjoyed music and loved playing the drums, even though he was not good at it. He had a passion for racing, motorcycles, and anything with a motor. Whether he was riding, watching, or simply talking about them, anything fast and loud was sure to get his attention. He also enjoyed basketball and spending time with the people he loved most.

Above all else, family was everything to Tater. He loved his family deeply and had a heart that seemed big enough for everyone. He especially treasured the bond he shared with his brother and sister. Though he was younger than his sister, he loved being the “Big Brother” to his sister. He loved watching his brother play basketball and was his greatest supporter. His relationship with his siblings was filled with love, laughter, and memories that will forever be cherished. He will also be known as a loving and amazing uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Tater will be remembered for his huge heart, his sweet and loving spirit, and the genuine way he cared for those around him. He was respectful, loving, and always willing to lend a hand. He was the kind of person whose presence could make a difference simply because he was there.

He also had a memorable sense of humor and a personality all his own. Among the many things his family will remember his obsession with bandanas, and they will forever remember their “yng.papa.x”.

Jacob is survived by his father, David Preston “Bud” Clark; his mother, Cynthia Marie Rhodes Bolden “aka Kitten”; his fiancé, Lydia Popoca; his sister, Victoria “Tori” Jones; and his brothers, Christian ‘C.J.” Jones, Austin Edward (Alley), and Dustin Clark; along with other relatives and many friends whose lives were touched by his love and friendship.

Although services will be private, the family wishes to express their profound gratitude for all of the love, prayers, and many good deeds sent their way during this time of grief.
