Jacqueline Claybrook Pettie

Jacqueline Claybrook Pettie, 80, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023, at her residence. She was born December 29, 1942 in Martinsville, to the late Joseph Harvey Claybrook and Annie Belle Clark Claybrook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Cornell “Connie” Pettie; a sister, Flora Hairston; and brother, James Hairston. She was a 1960 graduate of Albert Harris High School and was a member of Greater Tabernacle of Praise. She had been employed as a CNA for 20 years at Old Kennedy House. She enjoyed sewing and loved her grandchildren. Mrs. Pettie is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Pettie, Gordon “Peaches” Hodge, and Glynis Millner; sons, William C. Pettie, Jr. (Rita Faye), James N. Pettie and Richard L. Pettie (Shelby); sisters, Mable Hairston and Deana Mae Hairston; brother, Calbert Hairston; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A floating visitation will be Monday, January 23, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Milton Robertson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
