James Alan Melvin of Concord, Virginia

James Alan Melvin, 63, of Concord passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Barre, Vermont on September 26, 1959, he was the son of Joan Tassie Bebo and the late Eldon James Melvin. He was a member of Hebron Baptist Church where he worked with the youth. James was an avid hunter and a NASCAR fan. He worked at Deacon’s garage as a mechanic and served his country in the United States Navy.  

In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children, Autumn L. O’Brien (Brad), and Joshua S. Melvin (Lindsay) all of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Summer O’Brien, Taylor O’Brien, Payton Melvin, and Braelynn Melvin; four siblings, Elizabeth M. Cote (Kris) of Chazy NY, Joe Genero (Jan) of Midlothian, Karen Genero Marshall (Dwayne) of Lynchburg, and Pete Genero (Jacki) of Madison Heights; and his care providers, Patricia York and daughter, Desiree Baughman (Ash); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Deborah Machia Melvin; a sister, Ruthann Melvin; and a stepfather, Terry Bebo.

A graveside service will be held 2 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jonathan Watson officiating.
