James Allen Deacon

James A. Deacon, age 90 of Troutville passed away peacefully at Cave Spring Place in Roanoke, VA on Thursday August 10th.

James was born February 25, 1933 in Covington, VA to the late Gilmer Deacon and Liza (Muterspaw) Deacon. Born in Covington, VA he served in the Army and eventually moved to Botetourt County in 1960 and lived throughout

He worked for various construction companies around Roanoke. He enjoyed working in the garden, reading, watching TV and listening to various types of music. He was especially proud of all his children and took delight with all of their accomplishments.

In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Boone Deacon, his brother Frank Deacon and sister, Shirley Deacon.

James is survived by his step sons Ed Ross (Kerry), Fred Ross (Carol) and daughter, Barbara Deacon and son Gerald Deacon (Sandy).

The family is grateful for the service of Arielle and Lila of Gentiva Hospice and the nursing staff of Cave Spring Assistant Living for the care given to him.
