James Bill Vaughan

Mr. James Bill Vaughan, age 98 of Mount Airy passed away Sunday night, March 12, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. Mr. Vaughan was born in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Edgar and Thelma Hodges Vaughan. Mr. Vaughan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. He is survived by a son, Doug Vaughan; four grandchildren and spouses, Jamie Vaughan and Joanie, Heather Jefferson and Daniel, Bea Vaughan, Gus Vaughan; four great-grandchildren, Jackson Vaughan, Annsley Puckett, Julianna Vaughan, Jenna Jefferson; one sister, Mallie Lee Vaughan Roberts; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Vaughan was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jeanette Shaw Vaughan; a daughter, Diana Frances Vaughan; a son, Randy James Vaughan; four sisters, Lois Vaughan Alderman, Mabel Vaughan Edmonds, Louvenia Vaughan Sachs, Frances Vaughan Stanley; and two brothers, Paul Vaughan, and Kent Vaughan. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Coal Creek Community Church in Galax, Virginia with Rev. Eric Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery in Galax, Virginia. No formal visitation will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangement.
