James "David" Handy

James “David” Handy, age 71 of Fieldale, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026.
David was born on February 28, 1955 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late James Arthur Handy and the late Ruth Marie Barbour Handy. David was retired and had been employed in the Shipping Department at American Furniture. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved Baseball, Vintage Cars, NASCAR especially Richard Petty and Davey Allison.

David is survived by his daughter, Tiana Hunnicutt (Wayne), two sisters; Carolyn Hale and Jeannie Handy W. Allen, one brother, William “Donnie” Handy (Shirley), grandchildren; Nylla Hunnicutt-DeHart, Nathan “Will” DeHart and Jacob DeHart, a special friend like a brother, Roy Johnston, many precious friends, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Hwy, Bassett, Virginia with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM with Chris Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in Critz Baptist Church Cemetery, 3284 Dogwood Road, Critz, VA
