James Donald Shepherd

James “Donald” Shepherd, 77, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. Donald was born in Martinsville, Virginia on August 9, 1946, to the late James Henderson Shepherd and Violet Richardson Shepherd. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Kenny Shepherd.

Donald worked for Stanley Furniture for 40 years as a cabinet assembly technician.

He is survived by his brother, Kevin Shepherd (Tracy); nephew, Andrew Shepherd (Rebecca), Wensley Shepherd; and several cousins.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services Martinsville Chapel. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pastor Michael Murray will be officiating. A burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville, VA.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

The Family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Chilhowie, VA. Especially to the nursing staff who worked in The Summit, for all kindness and care they gave to Donald.

The family will be receiving friends and family at Kevin and Tracey’s home.
