James E. King

James E. King, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on April 17, 2026 at his residence in Danville, VA. He was born August 23, 1935 in Danville, VA. He was the son of Arther L. King and Annie Richardson King.

James was of the Baptist Faith. He served briefly in the military. He worked various jobs until 1964, when he started working for the City of Danville Public Works, previous to his retirement in 1996.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, Timothy Wilson Murray, a brother, George L. King, and one sister, Ruth Wommack.

He is survived by his daughter, Jamie L. King of Danville, VA; and three granddogs, Timmy, Dabble Doo, and Huckleberry.

Through his lifes journey, he never met a stranger, and was loved and appreciated by all that he met along the way.

He was a devoted father. His daughter said there was no place she would rather been, than by his side and it was a privilege and honor to be his daughter. He was the greatest Dad, and a blessing her whole life.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted on Monday, May 4, 2026 at 1:00pm at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA. Please join his daughter whether in person or in your heart that day.
