James Edison Abbott

James Edison Abbott Jr. (Eddie) 64, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on January 14, 2026. He was born on September 24, 1960, in Bedford, the son of James Edison Abbott and Margie Conner Abbott.

James is survived by his beloved daughter, Kayla Marie Abbott and her Fiancé Dalton Matney. His wife, Tina Orange Abbott; his brother, Robert Abbott; his sisters,  Cathy Abbott and Terri Wheeler, and her husband John Wheeler. He is also survived by his nephew Christopher Orange and his wife Brittany Orange; niece Kimberly Cottrell, her son DJ and daughter Carla

James’ heart extended beyond blood, and he cherished his chosen family deeply, including his daughter, Kayla’s lifelong friends, Natalie Metzger and Stefanie Burkhart, whom he loved as his own.

He was the proud and devoted companion to his dog Ozzie and his cats Obsidian & Molly, loving them like children.

James loved his family and friends fiercely and would do anything for the people he cared about. In retirement, he enjoyed keeping busy by working on cars, watching his favorite football teams, and spending quality time with friends and family. In his younger years, he loved beach trips and fishing memories that remained close to his heart.

A private service will be held at a later date.
