James Edward Spencer

James Edward Spencer, 66, grew up in the Mayo Community in Ridgeway, Virginia. He departed this life on August 24, 2024. He was born September 13, 1957, in Henry County to the late Lula Spencer Foster Warren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Guy Arnold Spencer.

James attended Drewry Mason High School, and he received his GED through Woodrow Wilson Trade Center. He was baptized at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church. He worked at Panell Knitting Company until he became disabled, due to health issues. He also enjoyed working on cars.

He is survived by one sister, Mona Lisa Foster, of Axton, VA; four brothers, John Matthew Foster, Harry Lee Foster and Thomas Eugene Foster of Martinsville, VA, William Garrette Foster (Darlene) of Martinsville, VA; four sons, Quincey Leon Penn "Sam", James Penn "Jim Bob", Tracy Maurice Penn and Jerome Allen Spencer "Jay"; six grandchildren, aunts, uncles and a host of relatives and friends.

The service will be Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Dwight Mack officiating. A visitation will be held thirty minutes prior to the service.
