James Eldridge Whitley

James “Jim” Eldridge Whitley Jr., 58, passed peacefully on January 5, 2024 surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Franklin, VA on November 19, 1965 to the late Delores “Dee” Ann Jackson Whitley and the late James Eldridge Whitley Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Jane Pierce Whitley.

Jim was of the Christian faith and an active member of Lively Stones Baptist Church. He worked for 34 years as a supervisor for Duffie Graphics in Danville, VA. He was also a avid fan of the Washington Redskins. He was also a proud alumni of Appalachian State University.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by a daughter; Kacie Pierce Whitley of the residence; a sister; Deanna Bissett of Murfreesboro, NC; nephews; Adam James Bissett of Deltona, FL, Eric Christian Bissett (Kristi) of Oak Island, NC, Brandon Hooker, Hunter Adkins, Brae Adkins, and Chase Adkins all of Chatham, VA; brother in law; Joey Adkins (Christie); sister in law; Bonnie Adkins; mother in law; Sarah Adkins all of Chatham, VA; a special aunt; Margaret “Sissy” Roland (Johnnie) of Murfreesboro, NC; cousins; Thomas Whitley (Mary) of Charlotte, NC and Robert Whitley (Kelli) and their daughters, Belle and Ava of Clemmons, NC; and best friends; Craig Setliff and his daughter Chelsey Setliff.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Danville/ Pittsylvania County Cancer Association, 223 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA 24541.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00pm at Lively Stones Baptist Church, 2347 Chandlers Mill Road, Pelham, NC with pastor Mike Kent officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2:00 pm also at the church on the same day. The family will receive friends at other times at the residence.
