James Ford Brown

December 6, 1956 - August 25, 2026

James Ford Brown, Sr., 69, of Patrick Springs, VA passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at his home. He was born on December 6, 1956, in Rocky Mount, VA to the late Jewel Benjamin Brown, Sr., and Jean Bennett Brown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Jewel “J.B.” Benjamin Brown, Jr., and Jerry Frank Brown.

He loved to fish and spent countless hours enjoying one of his favorite places, El Ranchito—his true home away from home. He loved it so much that he even ordered a Spanish class online so he could better communicate with the employees there while enjoying his daily margaritas. Family was incredibly important to him, and he was deeply loyal to the people he loved. He proudly served in the Army National Guard and was also a member of AMVETS. He worked at Hanes until his retirement in 2024, taking great pride in providing for his family. He had a natural sense of humor and could make people laugh without even realizing how funny he was. His genuine personality, loyalty, dedication, and ability to bring joy to those around him are memories his family and friends will always cherish.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa “Lee” Mize Brown; daughters, Amanda Dawn Brown, Ashley Jyl Brown, and Amanda Lee Mason; sons, Carless “Eddie” Brown (Jennifer), James Casey Sigman, Jr. (Lisa), James Ford Brown, Jr. (Mary Beth), and Reggie Coleman Brown (Sheila); sisters, Sarah David (Ted), and Jyl Campbell; brother, Jack Brown (Lisa); numerous grandchildren, and few great-grandchildren.
