James Hairston

James Hairston, 69, of Danville, Virginia, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the Waltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina. He was born May 19, 1955, in Pittsylvania County to the late Herbert Hairston and Rosezell Wilson Hairston.

James was of the Christian faith and attended Franklin Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a dedicated employee as a construction worker for over 30 years at Osborne Construction and Kirkland Construction.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Patsy Hairston; daughters, Jennifer Hairston, Melissa “Tori” Hairston, Alexis Tarpley; stepdaughter, Starrea Wilson (Tim); stepsons, Mancino Craighead (Takara), Monte Bernard (Tiffany); sisters, Mary Inge, Doris Keen (Elder Walter), Ola Tarpley (Kenneth), Barbara Dillard (Donald); brothers, Herbert Hairston, Jr., Burnell Hairston; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Greater Love Ministries of Martinsville, Virginia. Interment will follow at Franklin Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery located at 3727 Hatchett Road, Penhook, Virginia. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will also be held at Wright Funeral Service Friday, February 28, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 PM. The family will also receive family and friends at the home, at 1009 Stony Mill School Road, Danville, Virginia.
