James (J.D.) Daniel Mohler
James (J.D.) Mohler, the youngest son of David and Martha (Flora), was born at home in Covington OH on April 4, 1943.
He departed this life for his heavenly home on Sunday, November 10, 2024, after being diagnosed with Lewey Body Dementia in February 2024. He was a faithful Christian and was baptized July 29, 1962. He married his loving wife Gay (Bucholtz) on June 23, 1962, and God blessed them with 5 children. They moved from Ohio to Virginia in June 1967 where they spent their remaining years raising their family until retirement. After his retirement they moved to Lakeland, Florida and lived there for 10 years before moving back to Virginia. While living in Florida they attended Pine Grove Church and later Clay Sink Baptist Church. They genuinely enjoyed their time in Florida and had a lot of special times with old and new friends.
J.D. always had a ready joke and could not wait to share it with everyone! He loved to make people laugh. He spent his life as a dairy farmer, electrician, small engine repair/HVAC installation and truck driver. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren brought him much joy!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Step Dad Wilmer Austin, Brother Lester, and wife Joann (Yoder), Brother Glen, Sister Ruby Flora and husband Kenny, Brother-in-Law Okey Bowman, 2 grandsons and 1 great granddaughter.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, his children, and their spouses; Kim (Kermit) Austin of Rocky Mount VA, Dean of Peterstown WV, Dennis (Ellen Mason) of Sawyer KS, Karen (Bob) Miller of Bedford VA, and Kathy Hale of Rocky Mount VA. 17 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Sister Virgnia Bowman of Callaway VA and Sister-in-Law Lois Jean (Miller) Mohler of Pleasant Hill OH. As well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the love and support of so many friends and family. A special thank you to Good Samaritan Hospice who provided such wonderful care and support during this difficult time! The family will receive friends at the Shenandoah New Conference Meeting House, 2623 Carolina Springs Rd, Rocky Mount, VA on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The funeral will be held at the same location on Wednesday, November 13, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
