James "Jimmy" Vernon Underwood

James “Jimmy” Vernon Underwood, 83, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025. He was born November 18, 1941, in Christiansburg, Virginia to the late James Corbett Underwood and Margarette Matherly Underwood.

Jimmy was of the Christian faith and a Reverand in the World Christianship Ministries. He took pride in his work and worked for many years as a Manager with Cracker Barrel. In his free time, he could be found searching his family’s genealogy, writing songs and was actively writing a book about his life’s story. Jimmy was well traveled and loved visiting local sites like the beach as well as other states and foreign countries. He was known as a people person and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to get to know and love him.

He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-four years, Aurora Igot Archer Underwood; daughters, Misty Underwood, Wendy Underwood; sons, Michael Underwood, Spencer Underwood, Robert Underwood, John Underwood; sister, Betty Underwood; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
