James Linwood Fralin

May 1, 1939 - December 22, 2024

James Linwood Fralin, 85 of Salem, Va was welcomed into heaven by his soulmate Eva on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Born on Monday, May 1, 1939, in Roanoke County, Va, to the late James Claude Fralin and Nettie Mae Hunley Fralin.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by the love of his life Eva Mae Fralin; sisters, Dora “Pinky” Pendleton, and Julia Manning; brothers, Howard Fralin and Homer Fralin.

Linwood was affectionately known as "Daddy-O." To know him was to know an honest, hardworking, and God-fearing man. His top priority was loving his family, and he cherished the time spent together on their annual beach trips, where they created lasting memories. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the season's first tomato.

Daddy-O and Eva enjoyed their time together traveling in their RV to different places and meeting new people. Some of the places they particularly enjoyed visiting were Gospel and Bluegrass events.

During baseball season you could find Daddy-O cheering on some of his favorite MLB teams, The Philadelphia Phillies, and The New York Yankees.

Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Cathy Harrison (Mike) and Lisa Knight (Todd); sister, Marie Saul; brother, Ray Fralin (Helen); grandchildren, Kendra Fagg (Derek), Cody Harrison, Karly Knight, Will Knight, and John Knight; great-grandchildren, Addison and Elliott; special grand-cat, GiGi; best neighbors, Phillis and Dean, Maggie “Maddie” and Robbie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. Services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, with Pastor Don Woodard officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Salem, Va.
