James Michael Morris

James Michael Morris, age 71, of Giles County, Virginia, passed away on September 21, 2026, while in the care of Heritage Hall-Rich Creek, Virginia. He was born on January 4, 1955, in Giles County, Virginia, and was the son of the late William Morris and Maletta Sifford Perdue. He was a graduate of Giles High School and carried the lessons of his upbringing with him throughout his life. Those who knew him will remember a man who appreciated the simple, meaningful things in life and who faced each day with a steady spirit. James enjoyed hunting and fishing and found great pleasure in the outdoors. He also loved football and was a devoted fan of the New York Jets. Whether he was following a game, spending time in nature, or sharing conversation with those close to him, he found joy in the interests that brought him comfort and connection. His hobbies reflected his personality, which was sincere, dependable, and deeply tied to the people and places he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Morris and Maletta Sifford Perdue; his siblings, Roger Morris, Jerry Morris, Eugene Morris, Donald Morris, and Freda Morris. Their memories remained a lasting part of his life, and he carried the bonds of family with him always. James understood the importance of kinship and held close the relationships that shaped his journey through life. He is survived by his sister, Cynthia DeLoach and her husband, Charles; his sister-in-law, Carol Morris; his nephews, William Todd Morris, Donald Ray Morris Jr., Aaron Jones, and Zachary Scott; his nieces, Meghan Morris, Jelissa Jones, and Cassandra Quesenberry; and special family members, Lisa Sifford, Ray Sifford, Roy Sifford, Brenda Bowles, and Alice Sifford. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the place he held in their lives. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. Funeral services will conclude in Fairview Cemetery where he will be laid to rest.
