James Wesley Southern

James Wesley Southern, Jr., of Spencer, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at home. He was born August 4, 1962, in Martinsville, Virginia, to the late James Wesley Southern, Sr. and Joyce Evans Southern.He was of the Baptist faith and was a graduate of Drewery Mason High School. Until his disability, he worked in the construction business. He continued to work on construction projections around the home, building a green house and a heart-shaped flower garden for his wife. James enjoyed fishing, cooking and taking care of needed repairs around the home. He loved his two dogs, “Sparky” and “Bug” and enjoyed spending time with them. He was an avid race fan and watched all the races.James is survived by his wife, Susan of twelve years, his mother Joyce Evans Southern; two step-daughters, Hannah Carmichael of Spencer and Elizabeth Meade of Bassett; step-son, Christian Robertson; a sister, Anna Hankins (Dale) of Martinsville; nephew, Richard Hankins; six step-grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, and cousin.All Services will be privateWright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
