Jane Carper Farley

Jane Carper Farley, 94, of Martinsville, Va. passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She was born in Martinsville on October 24, 1929 to Jessie C and Francis W. Carper of Martinsville. She graduated from the Martinsville High School Class of 1947. She attended Holton-Arms Jr. College in Washington D.C. and graduated from Edgewood Pack Jr. College in Briarcliff Manor, NY. She worked as a cataloger at Blue Ridge Regional Library. Jane was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a past member of the Wesley Guild and was instrumental in the reorganization of the church library. She was also a sustaining member of the Charity League and past member of the Martinsville Garden Club.She is survived by her daughter, Bailey Farley Showalter and her husband, Bobby; son, W. Marshall Farley, Jr.; granddaughter, Ria Farley Wigginton her husband, Matthew; grandson, Nicholas Farley; step-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Chandler and her husband Daniel; step-great grandchildren, Cooper, Sophie, Adalyn and Emmett Chandler.A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Oakwood Cemetery and will be officiated by Reverend John Fulcher.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Ridge Regional Library, 310 East Church Street, Martinsville, Va. 24112 or the Martinsville Henry County SPCA, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy, Martinsville, VA 24112McKee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville, Va. is serving the family.
