Janie Marie Bailey

Janie Marie Booth Bailey, 81, of Salem, Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Janie was born in Pulaski, Va., to the late Edward Clinton and Madie Marie Midcalf Booth. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Richfield before retiring after 40 years of service. Throughout her life, she loved the beach, gardening, her dogs, the Dallas Cowboys, Virginia Tech, and Salem football. She began each morning by texting her friends and family to let them know that she loved them. For 51 years, she hosted her annual Halloween party featuring her famous Witches Brew, where one invitation meant you were welcomed back every year. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Wills; husband, Jerry W. Bailey Sr.; brothers, Johnny, Edward, and Mike Booth; and her beloved poodle, Bear Baby. Her surviving family includes her son, Larry Wills; stepchildren, Jerry Bailey, Jr. and wife, Amy, and Angie Ewing and husband, Kevin; sister, Barbara Gaddy; grandchildren, Jonathan Wills, Ashley Williamson and husband, Jeffrey, Caitlin McAllister and husband, Levi, Josh Harris, and Matthew Ewing; great-grandchildren, Evelyn Wills and Chase McAllister; along with numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and other family members including her dog, Dallas. All are invited to celebrate her life on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel located at 305 Roanoke Boulevard in Salem, Va. The period of visitation will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Park, also in Salem, Va. The Rev. Ken Nienke will officiate.
