Jason Eugene Cassell
Jason Eugene Cassell, 42, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away at his home on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. He was born on December 28, 1983, in Winston Salem, North Carolina, to Harold Eugene Cassell and the late Celesta Turner Cassell.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Jason was a man of Christian faith, attending Day Star Ministries in earlier years. Before facing health challenges, he was a dedicated construction worker where he used his skills to build homes. He enjoyed being outdoors, where his favorite pastimes of fishing and hunting brought enjoyment. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed making others laugh.
He was a loyal friend to everyone he met; even when he did not have much, he found ways to help as many people as he could. Jason was a devoted husband, son, brother, father, and uncle who loved his family and cared deeply for each one. He spent twenty wonderful years with Crystal, the woman he chose to spend his life with. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be in the hearts of his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Crystal; daughter, Emily Celeste Cassell; son, Daniel Lucas Cassell; father, Harold Cassell; mother-in-law, Charlene Harris; sister, Jamie Lynn Elgin (Jason); many nieces and nephews who he helped raise like his own children including, Brianna Grace Harbour, Aleiyah Shea Harbour (Sam Ellis), Noah James Harbour, Elijah Rain Smith (Cheyenne Thomas), Jonah Gray Smith; brothers-in-law, Donny Ray Harris, Jesse Wayne Harris, and Toby James Harris; best friends, Herman “HA.” Payne (Dana), Michael Harris (Rhonda), Steven Holt, and numerous extended family and friends.
