Jean Eleanor Spanutius

Jean Eleanor Spanutius, 93, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, October 27, 2024. She was born June 18, 1931, in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Edgar Anton Martin and Eleanor Hendrie Martin. She raised her family in Edison, New Jersey and retired to Oceanview, Delaware. She later moved to Martinsville, Virginia.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fredrick Wade Spanutius.Jean attended Mariners Bethel Methodist Church in Oceanview, Delaware. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crafts, and baking. She was very active in church and loved to sing in the choir. Jean was in the Women’s Club of Oceanview, Delaware, Dorcas Group, and the Red Hat Society.She is survived by her daughters, Janet Johansen (Brian), Linda Minter; brother, Robert Martin (Catherine); grandchildren, Katie Baird (Jason), Sara Westhafer (William), Ian Johansen (Ashley); great grandchildren, Nate Baird, Caroline Baird, Ella Westhafer, Madeline Westhafer, James Johansen, Samuel Johansen.All services will be private.
